hi!
sorry, it is really awful storm out there, so I am thinking about feature requests for your (really great) module :)
the current idea is that in admin zone admin can set sending private messages to users on their birthday together with (or instead)
sending mail to them.

As you can read in the other issue concerning the links on the profile: I'm totally for integrating the birthdays module with the private messaging module (optionally of course).
This is something that's probablu not too hard to create, so its definitly something I'll look into in the near future.

The Drupal 7 version of http://drupal.org/project/privatemsg provides a "Send private message" action. The latest Birthays release supports Triggers, so you could select such an action to be executes on birthdays.
As for doing this in the Drupal 5 or 6 version of Birthdays: I won't implement any new features there myself, but I am not opposed to accepting patches.
