username instead (or additional to) user id

it would be very nice, if the module would check the user id and if "page not found" is returned, it checks if the same url with "username" exists. in use with pathauto it looks much better to add usernames into the urls instead of the user id.

if that's not possible, it would be nice, if the url contains the term "user" it would check for the uid and if not, it would check for the username.

if that's also impossible (or a lot of work) it would be nice, if the admin could choose if he wants to check for the username or for the uid...
