I have upgraded 4.7.7 to 5.2 drupal core successfully. Now I am working the modules, one at a time.

The image module is causing me fits. I have actually re-started the upgrade process trying to get the image module to upgrade three times. It will not. After installing the image module 5.0-dev version (and also tried the 1.4 version) via admin/build/modules, I go to the upgrade.php script. I make sure that image module is going to update to version "5". Hit submit and the big two-tone bar of death with the words, "Updating: Please wait while your site is being updated." appears. And it never does anything. I even left it on all night and nothing happened.

I am on Linux, mysql 5 and php 5.2.3.

I have 13,000 images. And that MAY be the problem. But all night (as in 8 hours??) and nothing was done to the database or dir structure that I could see.

Anyone else have any ideas on how to upgrade the image module for 4 to drupal 5??

This may be better suited as bug report using the image.module project page. Have you checked the issue query for the image.module to see if there are any similar threads or a possible patch ?

There are no instances of this being reported in the image.module issues.

I have the problem that the 5.x version of image module does not support MySQL 4.0. My host refuses to upgrade to a more current version of MySQL or even offer it on another server. See http://drupal.org/node/158264

I saw that thread and (since I own the server) upgraded mysql to 5.x. The problem persists.
