I'm almost embarrassed to ask this question because it's probably pretty simple but i can't find answer.

How do i create an RSS feed for my story nodes (or any other content type for that matter)?

By default i have an RSS feed on my front page. But that only covers the number of node teasers on my front page. It looks like that is supplied by a syndicate block. But where is that configured (e.g. the number of teasers and the content types included in the feed)?

And as stated earlier, how can i create feeds for individual or combined groups of content types? and then place the rss links whereever i want them? Is this only possible via views? Can i enable an RSS feed on an existing view or must i create an entirely separate view to add an RSS feed to it?

I always create them through Views.
Concerning your last remark: Yes you should enable the RSS feed on your existing view. No need to create a seperate one.
Just edit your view and add as 'Argument': 'RSS: RSS Feed Selector'.

This will add an RSS feed to the page of your view.

Oh, and the configuration for the RSS feeds can be found under Administer > Content management > RSS publishing (admin/content/rss-publishing).

thanks for the reply. I just tried the views rss. it looks like you need to have a PAGE view to do this (you can't use on a block).

the one thing i don't understand is that it looks like you can setup all different kinds of rss feeds based on different content types in views.
But then you go to admin > content > rss publishing to set global settings? So those settings affect the number of feeds on every other feed you create in views?

Also, if i create a bunch of different feeds using views, i know each view will put the rss icon FOR THAT FEED on the bottom of THAT INDIVIDUAL view PAGE. But say you want to put all of those separate feeds on one page, each with it's own RSS button.Do you have to manually create that page or is there some way to automate that?

thanks
