It was created over a month ago, and ns_core has a beta2, but NS itself has it's beta2 hidden.

This is because there is a bug in drush 5 that doesn't let you patch modules if the info file is changed by the patch (for instance by adding a class). The bug has been fixed in drush, but it won't be rolled out until the next version of drush is released.
