Would this be possible, following a database transfer between endpoints, to have the confirmation form offer a download link to the mysql dump file? This way, user could easily download the dump file to their desktop as an extra copy.

You can now (in 3.x) save a local copy of every db you send to a remote destination. This may solve your needs.
