Use format_string() instead of t() for assertion message text

Follow up to #500866: [META] remove t() from assert message
In assertion messages which insert variables, we should use format_string() instead of t().

The script from comment #14 may be helpful with some minor modifications. See also the updated simpletest documentation and comment #177 from catch.
