I get this error on installation. Shouldn't the Number module be included as a dependency?

I am not sure, could you try enabling the Number module and see if that fixes the error?

Oops. I should have specified that this was the Views Slideshow Xtra Example module.

I couldn't re-enable until I manually cleaned out the content type and fields that had been created on my first attempt (when I got the error). I enabled Number module, then re-enabled Views Slideshow Xtra Example. Works like a charm now.
