Automatic Nodetitles not processed with locative data

Is there a some reason that the Automatic Nodetitles is usually hooked, but not when importing locative data?

I have a critical need that titles be unique at my site, but the automatic generation of titles, based on locative data does not trigger. Data imports fine, but the title is blank, until I manually edit the imported node. I am combiniing the location module, gmap module, and automatic nodetitles to generate the title from one, or two fields, according to the optional presence of a street address and mandatory presence of a postal-code.

Except in this singular CCK-derived node type, Node import has been a blessing. Thanks for excellent functionality.
