This is a great module and it has made things a lot easier for me. Do you think it would be possible to use this module for other node types. It would be great if I could use it for a custom type along with the outline module.

It might be possible to make it work with the outline module, but I don't know how that module works and have no time to dig into it. If someone wants to make a patch, I'd look at it.

Probably won't happen. The outline module is no longer maintained and it's much simpler to limit this to the book type.
