Best modules for online magazine?

Hello:

If you wanted to create something like Slate, Salon, The New Republic, etc. that had some of the following features . . .

+ related articles
+ author bio/more from this author
+ print/email this article
+ content organized by issue
+ partial page for nonsubscribers
+ content organized by sections (e.g., politics, arts, etc.)

etc

I'm a novice coder, about to move to Drupal, just wondering what you experts would suggest for these things, what the reputable/trustworthy/workhorse modules would be, what's worked for you, or just whatever modules you'd use if you were going to start an issue-organized magazine site
