Great theme, thanks! I was surprised to see that search box is displayed in header even to users who are granted wirh search permissions.

The search box is displayed in the header region regardless of user permissions.

Did you see the "Add search form to the header " check box under "Advanced Header Settings" in the theme's settings? I see that is not ideal, but it might work for you and just have a search box in a normal block.
