Started using Global Redirect 6.x 1-5 with Drupal 6 - since I implemented the module my indexed pages in Google are now using the '/node/number' string instead of the URL alias. (This is not what I want!)

Keyphrases that I am ranking for are still pointing to the correct node and seem to be in the same position in the index but the pages are all using the /node string.

I recompiled my XML sitemap and submitted to Google, all links in the sitemap are using the correct alias URLS.

I have the same amount of indexed pages in the Google Index but some aliases URL names are now not there but their /node/ equivalents are - these are recent pages, I don't understand why the URL alias is dropped in favour of the node/number - the only recent changes to the site is the Global Redirect module and a new XML sitemap submitted to Google - the sitemap looks OK and has URL aliases not node numbers.

Why would this happen and how can i fix to revert to the aliases in the index.

Ok solved my own issue.

I had NodeWords installed and recently checked use canonical link - which it turns out uses the system path by default 'node/number' hence all the changes in Google index, there is an option to use the path alias in the options section - I disabled the canonical link in Nodewords and just checked the canonical option also available in Global Redirect which uses the path alias by default.

I just hope my URL aliases return quickly to to the index and don't stuff up my SEO (or my clients :( )

I had to tick Use URL aliases in Node Words.
