I created a Terrafirma theme project here some time ago and it got shut down because I was unable to get permission from node33 for re-releasing the theme as GPL (originally released as Creative Commons).

Did you get the ok from the original author?

I asked for release permission and here is the answer from N33:

I've released all my themes under a creative commons attributes 2.5
license. If anything the GPL is more restrictive than the CCA 2.5 license,
so I guess you could release your conversion under that.
