Each Drupalcon, I try to provide a State of Drupal presentation to communicate our current Zeitgeist and to share my ideas about what I think is important for Drupal. Next month's DrupalCon Barcelona is no exception. This time around, I'd like to do something slightly different, and incorporate direct feedback from all Drupal users, contributors, developers, evaluators, and everyone else who has an interest in Drupal's future.

To help me fuel my presentation, I'd like to invite you all to take part in the State of Drupal 2007 survey that I created. The goal of the survey is to better understand our needs, and to help prioritize our efforts. If you can't attend DrupalCon Barcelona, don't worry; I'll make sure to share the results after the conference.

Now, fill out the survey!

at the time i'm writing, question 2 obliges me to check something which i can't since it does not apply to my case: filling in the "other" field for question 2 without checking anything is not allowed.

thx

This survey is auto-generated by a company. Dries filled out a set of forms, and the survey was built automatically. It's not really editable as you'd like to see it work.

Being SurveyMonkey or not, I'm unable to complete the survey.
When clicking "next" on page 2, I get back to page 1. (I haven't tried what happens if I press "back"...)

Just thought that since this post refers to the survey, it might be good to know that the survey seems to have some problems. (That should hold even if it is an external site managing the survey.)
I'll drop by in a day or two to see if I can fill it in again...

Hi,

Could this be a session related issue? I remember a similar survey page, that after I started filling in page 1, I went away from my PC and when I came back, pressing Next shows me the same page. Maybe you spend too much time in the same page that invalidates your session and it starts over?

Well, there must be bugs with surveymonkey. It won't allow me, too, to fill out the survey as ticked chechboxes disappear when ticking checkboxes at the following question. This must be an error related surveymonkey, Dries you should report this error to them as it really can be replicated quite easily and renders the entire survey useless...

Wasn't that in the places where you have to choose 5 most important entries? These questions behave this way indeed, but that's correct and explained above the block. Whether this is your problem or not, I don't know.

Good questions! Will be interesting to hear about the results.
One thing that was a bit confusing for me was to give the most important aspect a score of 1 and the least important a score of 5 though it reflects grades at school. Maybe im too polluted by the many star ratings on the web.

Very nice questions. Can not wait for the results.

Yes, some of the questions got me excited thinking about possibilities for future Drupal versions. I can't wait to see the results as well!

I could be cheating here, but some of the options are already implemented in Drupal 6 ;)

Good survey, was very pleasing to complete. Looking forward to seeing the results published.

...and I'm really looking forward to looking over the results once they're available to the general public after DrupalCon Barcelona.

Whether a long-term Drupal developer or a recently joined new person to the Drupal community, whether you're in business, education, or government, whether you simply dabble with Drupal or if your corporation depends on it to take care of your thousands of customers, I urge everyone to please give Dries' survey your time so that he and the other Drupal leaders can have the proper information when it comes to making important decisions with regard to where Drupal should go.

The survey doesn't take long to complete, maybe 10 minutes, and is very easy to follow. The questions asked were well thought out and show me that Drupal leaders take their role very seriously and are giving us, the Drupal community, a voice to express ourselves in terms of what we want, need, and think about Drupal and what it does for us.

So please go ahead and fill out the survey. Thanks!

Just wanted to post and tell everyone --- Fill Out The Survey! :D

I can't afford to travel to Barcelona (maybe someday... someday), but I'm looking forward to hearing the results.

Great idea & implementation; I filled this out a few days ago. Perhaps a dev list post is warranted? I looked through the archives and as far as I can tell it hasn't been posted yet. How is the response rate so far, anyway?

Wow, those questions got me really excited about Drupal 7. I hope I get to go to the DrupalCon Barcelona it looks like it's gonna be wicked. It looks like the future is very bright for Drupal indeed.

Where can we find the results (stats) of this survey?

JirkaRybka’s picture

Still no results available - or am I missing a link somewhere? It would be very interesting to see some results, to learn more about the community etc.

Still no results available :(

Can we see the results someplace?

I was excited about the details in the survey and was hoping to to see everyones thoughts. It looks like many of us are curious.

Thanks
