FYI -

I just updated Drupal core for the OpenPublic distribution (current 7.x-1.0-beta8 2012-Mar-19) from 7.13 to 7.14+89-dev (2012-Jul-17). I updated modules and theme via the administrator interface -> Available Updates -> Update when I saw the message:

This update is a major version update which means that it may not be backwards compatible with your currently running version. It is recommended that you read the release notes and proceed at your own risk.

It shows as a red box on the Available updates page.
