Release notes
Previously, it only used the default option if you were not on a node. Furthermore, it used the default option incorrectly, and it explicitly caused the view to return no results if there was no node.
Now, it uses the default correctly. It uses it in situations where there is no node and in situations where the node has no such terms. Finally, it lets the view work even if there's no node. It only zeroes the view out if there was no such term and you left no default.

Release notes
After months of neglect, this release now works. It was created with a views 1.6 RC, when the API was not stable. Therefore, it was a disappointment to people who used the stable views 1.6.
Now, it's been updated to the stable api, so it should work.
