What does it do? "ENABLE STOCK MANAGEMENT OVERRIDE FOR THESE PRODUCT TYPES"
We need better text as this is not clear to users.

guy_schneerson commentedHi @Amir
It allows you to disable stock checking on individual product.
If you enable this for one of the product type, all products of that type will have an option (on edit) "Disable stock for this product", this will allow you to disable stock checks for that product (so it is always in stock)

shaneonabike commentedYeah that wording on this one is a bit confusing... could I suggest that perhaps we add "Disable stock checking for the following items..." instead of the label that is there?
guy_schneerson commentedthanks @ShaneOnABike I agree it can be made clearer however the option dosen't "Disable stock checking" but provide the option to do so.
how about
"Provide an option to disable stock checking for the following product types"
or is that to wordy?
imiksuTo be honest, I didn't understand either the current label.
The #4 and #5 sounds more clear.
guy_schneerson commentedI am open to changing this #5 sounds OK to me but would like more input.
shame no task status of "Need more input" :)
summit commentedHi,
Maybe "Option to disable stock management for individual products"?
greetings, Martijn
Comment #9
shaneonabike commented@guy: Yeah I like what you wrote.. though I think there is a grammatical error in that (sorry I'm being picky)
"Provide the option to disable stock checking for the following product types"
It's wordy but better... unless we change the title to something short and add a description? Such as...
Title: Control the stock checking for the following product types:
Description: By selecting the product types above you will be given an option to disable stock checking when creating a new product of that type.
... Maybe I've been too wordy now.. but separating the title and description might give more information if needed (but keep the label into something a little simpler)
Thoughts?

guy_schneerson commentedHi @ShaneOnABikeand thanks for being picky (I really need help with those type of things).
I am up for "Provide the option to disable stock checking for the following product types" as it is accurate however open to splitting in to a title and a description, however I don't think "Control the stock checking for the following product types" is accurate as stock checking control is all the module does and this is a specific aspect of the checking.
I think we should include a description even if we use a long title how about:
Title: Provide the option to disable stock checking for the following product types
Description: By selecting the product types below you will be given an option to disable stock checking on individual product.
After enabling this option you can edit any product (of the enabled types) and disable stock checking using the "Disable stock for this product " checkbox, this will mark the product as allays available for parches.
Did I go mad on the description?
guy_schneerson commentedI also think we should change the label on the product page to say: "Disable stock checking for this product "
candelas commentedI came here because i didnt understand that option. For me the best from above

"Provide the option to disable stock checking for the following product types"
For the label, i think the word button would help to finish to understand.
Enable stock override button for xxx
(probably it needs an english correction)
also it gets a little scary :
I understand that all stock data will be permanently removed from the product types
i would change all by all (fields in product type / option to have stock button) or something similar...
thanks a lot for the module :)

fonant commentedIt wasn't clear to me that the option was to enable disabling of stock control per-item for the selected product types.
Title: "Enable stock levels to be ignored for items of the following product types:"
Description: "Tick to add a "Disable stock for this product" field to the product edit form, so that stock control can be ignored for some items."
I'd quite like to see the checkbox labelled "Ignore stock level for this product" instead of "Disable stock for this product" - disable sounds like the product might become unavailable, when really we're just ignoring zero-stock conditions.
adamgerthel commented+1 for fonant's wording.
fietserwinCorrect, complete yet concise wording is difficult indeed, especially for non-native speakers (like me). I like the texts from #13 as they
- indicate that ignoring is on a per product basis, not on the product type basis (the field is added on a product type basis). Most (all) other proposals do not mention that difference.
- use ignore instead of disable, which sounds less intrusive, which the option is.
However:
- why use item instead of product?
- is tick normal usage within Drupal, or is check more commonly used?
Anyway, I think there is quite some input now to considerably improve these texts. As perfect is the enemy of good (enough), for over 2.5 years people stumble onto this option not having any idea what it means. So I propose to just pick some text and change it.
deltaag commentedI agree with #13 for tex, and #15 as it is time to do this. So I am updating status to "Needs work".
