whilst testing in IE today I noticed a couple of error messages coming up.

#1 - 'jQuery is undefined' line 17 char 1
#2 - line 27 char 5 Object Expected

Looks to me a problem with your Drupal installation. I am afraid this behavior is not related to the theme. Did you check with garland theme?

Someone suggested it was theme related.

I've tried the garland theme and it reports no errors using either IE6+ or IE7+

I have took a look at you website and saw the error messages in IE6 but I am not able to reproduce those errors by myself. Please use the updated version of Salamander theme attached below and see if solve the problem. The css file include your request to have login box content on left, also.

Thanks! That fixed the problem in IE.

Just one other little thing... I still have a duplication of the navigation links under my header. In the theme screenshot this isn't there. How can I remove this? They extra links show right under my primary links.

In fact there is no duplication. This is a feature of Salamander theme to show up secondary links as well. In the menu settings (Administer -> Site building -> Menus - settings) you probably set "Menu containing secondary links:" as "Navigation". Change the setting to "Primary links" (default setting) !

As a general advise, use the default setting for secondary menus and you will benefit the Drupal context sensitive primary/secondary menus (http://drupal.org/node/57960). If a secondary link is a child of a primary one then it will be shown when the corresponding primary link is pressed or active.
