I'd like to have some pages only for my family members and friends. But I'd like to show some pages for public. Can I make login system so that only those who I give permissions can access certain pages?

Can Drupal do this?

This is pretty easy to do.

1. Create a Role called Family. Put your family members in it.

2. Use a module like Access By Term. Then anything you tag Family, only they can see.

I think after 8 years, the OP either found a solution, or gave up. It's not likely they are still looking for feedback.
