Active Menu does not work with Block Bar

Hi
I am a brand new user and have installed Block Bar and Active Menu as I need to create an Outlook 2003 UI and figured these were my best bet as a starting point.
However the Active Menu does not work within the block bar region. I just get a regular Drupal Menu. The Active Menu works fine if used as a standard menu.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
