Here is a patch that limits the available views to those that are marked as active (important when allowing any view to be chosen) and sorts the results alphabetically.

danielb commentedThis will cause problems for editing an existing node where the view reference was already set to a view that is now disabled.
And who says we shouldn't be allowed to reference a disabled view?

danielb commentedI think both these functionalities may be desired, but they should be optionally enabled via field settings to preserve the current behaviour.
