Auto Tagging

Description

Auto keyword tagging would be a good ideia.

Many feeds don't have tags associated with them and using [[http://www.phpclasses.org/autokeyword|something like this class]] would be nice to produce those from feed content.

Well, maybe you'd like to check out Yahoo Terms project. project page
This is a general solution to tag nodes automatically (with a yahoo service)

Can you tell me if http://www.phpclasses.org/autokeyword or Yahoo Terms give you more exact solution in extracting the keywords?

Btw. it seems it won't be definitely the part of FeedAPI because this is only about nodes. There are nodes and we'd like to get the keywords. (and there is a module currently which does this job - yahoo terms)

But if you says that http://www.phpclasses.org/autokeyword gives significantly better results, I'll consider to build a Drupal module around autokeywords php class.

i would like to auto tag the feed item based on the terms i have defined in categories, so that i can get a nice tag cloud of the relative occurrence of my defined terms in the feed items. i am willing to contribute us$100 to this.

i have long looked up on the subject of auto tagging in the forums and most of the request has been for auto-tagging and not auto-term and not auto-keyword. for me the other options wont work, as i deal with non-english language www.panduan.org

at the moment i am using leech, but since leech will not be available for drupal 6.x, i am looking at using feed api. i have over 50,000 bahasa melayu feed items which i use to research on certain subjects / topics. hoping to get something like trends.google.com and kartoo.com in the future but at the moment, need to have that auto-tagging first.

Aaron,

Some of the reasons I think this could be better than Yahoo Terms

1. This post talks about it: http://vernonkesner.com/141/automatic-tag-clouds-for-your-site.php
2. It doesn't have the http://developer.yahoo.com/faq/#limits that Yahoo Web Services impose.
3. It doesn't depends on the moods of an external company to work.
4. A program running on your server is surely faster than a call to any external server.

I think these are the main reasons for having an independent Drupal module for it.

Best,
Lopo

just for reference : the concept for taxonomy autotag module http://drupal.org/project/autotag is what i was looking for. at the moment there are some errors on the sql syntax. so i would consider this to be closed.

There's also the open calias module - http://drupal.org/project/opencalais

calais is limited by their own taxonomy, will not use the vocabularies created yourself.
