I just want a generic block to appear on every page that grabs the URL of that page, like the Google +1 button does. Unless I'm missing something, it appears the FB like button has to be tied to a content type. My front page for example has nothing but Views displays.

I would like this same thing but for the Drupal 7 version.

Just a block on every page (not only nodes) with a FB like link to that specific page.

I don't really get what feature you would like to add to the module. Furthermore, I think we are not fixing this issue as Drupal 6 has reached end of life
