Gallery CVS

I was wondering if anyone had gone through the gallery module and made it compatible with the CVS version of drupal.. Is this just a simple case of updating to "clean urls" or is there more to it than that. Changing the ones in gallery.module is simple enough, but the druapl cvs makes all the links in the gallery directory screwed up as well doesn't it? It looks like a long trawl through all the <a href>'s from where I'm standing....
netpbm for image module

I was also wondering if anyone had updated the image module so that it is possible to use netpbm with it? I realise this is probably quite simple for somebody with the know-how (a case of using a different bunch of functions?) but it looks a bit complicated for myself.
I'd appreciate any related info!
