If anyone is interested in getting this going. I need help in organizing it. Most I could chip in is $200.00 maybe more if I sell stuff on eBay. I really need this feature badly or is there already a substitute for this feature? Please contact me at mgoltra at yahoo dot com.

Check this node http://drupal.org/node/258373 for a low cost solution
that enables free-tagging in cck-taxonomy.

Haven't done much testing, but it seems to work at first glance.
