I have Drupal 4.5.0 installed with mysql. I am trying to put meta tags in. For this, I have the Keywords module installed (I know, nodewords is better - but I will install that later).
The Keywords module does allow me to put a website-wide meta description in. However, there is an extraneous, empty meta description that comes right after my title in the header. Therefore, when I add a title, there are 2 meta descriptions (one empty and mine). If I take the meta description out of the keywords, the extraneous, blank description is still there. I don't know if this empty meta description was there before the keywords module was installed.
Is the mission statement suppose to be the default meta description? If so, that is fine. However, I have the mission statement filled in, and it doesn't seem to be getting picked up.
Any suggestions?
Thanks much!

Where does the default meta description get set?
I turned the keywords module off, but I still have the empty meta description.
I read where there is an issue with the mission statement if your home page has an alias. So, assuming that the mission statement goes into this default meta descirption, I took the alias off. But, I still have the empty meta description.
I have searched other sites with Drupal, and they don't appear to have an empty meta description. So, my problem appears to be unique. Perhaps it is related to a unique theme.
Could you tell me where this meta description is being set, so I can research from there?
Thanks!
