Nice messages depends on the List module

I get the following error when installing Nice messages while not having the List module active:

FieldException: Attempt to create a field of unknown type list_boolean. in field_create_field() (line 110 of [DOCROOT]/modules/field/field.crud.inc).

Enabling the List module before installing Nice messages prevents this error from occurring.
