Issue Summary
It appears that since 4.7, images in image nodes don't show up in RSS feeds. (If the image was inserted into a node via image assist then it does show up.)
Here is a solution I found, rolled by the folks at 2bits: http://2bits.com/articles/changing-your-rss-feed-to-include-image-node-t...
It seems like the Image module is under such active development including a solution to the missing RSS piece in 5.x-1.6 or 1.7 would be a nice enhancement -- and it looks like the 2bits folks have done some of the work.

marked http://drupal.org/node/137273 as a duplicate (this one is newer but it has a patch)

the proper place for this to land...

Doesn't break anything, but in the taxonomy RSS feeds things are no different from before the patch.
How should this be tested?

Is this still an issue?
Seems to me to be a fairly basic requirement that an image node should display its image in an RSS feed!
How else could you make an icanhascheezburger site?

I've just tested the site RSS on a test install. I see images. Closing.
