Right now we're making use of og_node_create_links() however it's got a couple of issues that are causing bigger problems in og_extras.

It's a pretty minor issue for the og module itself since og only uses it on one minor spot, however it's not really stable enough for us to rely on.

#1587900: og_node_create_links() requires Entity Reference Prepopulate, causing "node content links" block to not be displayed

and

#1600910: Create Content Block showing to none group members - which would be fixed by #1671122: og_node_create_links() should respect group context when checking permissions
