Module cannot be activated and even current module cannot be deactivated

I just installed drupal 5.2 for the very first time..

then, installed taxonomy_menu (successfully)

when i want to install pathauto (requires token and path to be installed and activated)...
i do..
but both token and path cannot be activated.
and even i failed to deactivate some modules currently activated.

it seems like read only... anyone can help me?
