Something is bricked in this, using the latest dev release themes which have colour support (e.g. Bartik, Garland) shows colour options when you configure a snapshot.

Finding complete documentation for this stuff is like finding an honest politician. If you search long enough you might find it, but it'll be of minimal import or just plain not relevant!
