The modules directory in Contrib has many empty folders which causes bad links in ViewCVS and on the main download page at drupal.org. For example, see 'blogmail' and 'gk_tracker' directories

i found a patch to ViewCVS [1] that <cite>allows to display empty directories in the Attic, apart from directories that contain actual source files</cite> [2]. i installed this on our work ViewCVS (had to fix some things as the patch is for ViewCVS March 2003) and it works perfectly. would love to see this applied to cvs.drupal.org.

I disagree: We shoudl display all projects even aborted ones. Quite some usefull info is stird in several attics (sso.module being one).
