Hello

it is possible to define an imagefield as a link, but only to the node it is part of. I need to point it to an external url.

is it possible to somehow control where the link points to?

nope not yet... We need to rethink formatters for CCK a little bit.. I've been working with them lately, but they really need settings!!!

I'd say this can be considered a duplicate of #171280. One issue needs internal URLs and one needs external ones, but those should most probably be solved by the same code.
