Method to exempt links again

It looks like my original suggestion is lost in the "fixed" state and won't be looked at. However, since the original request was unclear, I'd like to clarify.

For various reasons, there are sometimes links on a page which are external, but for which I don't want to have the external link icon next to it. This is usually for space considerations on the page. But, for all other links, I do want the nice little icon supplied by this module to appear. This isn't an all-on or all-off thing. I'd like a way to have it on, but to disable it for specific links of the admins choosing.

There should be a way for an admin to add a class or id to an anchor tag to have the external links icon not appear.
