When I add a menu item using a # hash it is escaped when displayed in the menu.
So the menu item url /page#stop becomes /page%23stop
When I click the menu item it doesn't jump to the stop position.
Is there anyway I can work around this?

As mentioned here, this doesn't happen if you use an absolute url in the menu item - eg http://www.domain.com/#section
