Can someone tell me what this means. I would gladly appreciate it. I uploaded 5.2 to a shared hosting server and it comes with a .htaccess script. Do I need to change something in that. Also the server is Linux. Powweb.com is the provider.

Not sure I get you, but
Not sure I get you, but normally, one does not need to do anything to the .htaccess during installation.
After uploading your Drupal files, did you first create a db via the cpanel of your account before going to the Drupal page & used the db name, db-username + Password? Drupal assumes you already have created an empty DB & needs those details + the SQL server name to create the tables, etc & complete the installation. If one of them is missing or not correct, a db connection wont be established.
If you did all that & still get that error, then sorry, the problem is somewhere else ;;)
Reply to database connection issue
I created a database first in my account cpanel. Then I uploaded the 5.2 to the server. I went to the database config page which is the first thing you do. I entered the database name, user, and password. Also under advance option I put the place of where my database is which I copied and pasted from my account cpanel. Then I got the message:
Failure to connect to your MySQL database server. MySQL reports the following message: Access denied for user 'creator'@'cgi0901.int.bizland.net' (using password: YES).
I'm thinking that the access you have with the mysql database that the company gives you is limited toward the customer. I like the new upgrade they did from mysql 4 to 5 but I think when they config the access of the database for the customer, they are not giving you everything that drupal is telling you to do when you install. A friend of mines said he had the same problem when he uploaded drupal 5 to his server. He has the same company I have. Now we have no problem installing drupal 4.7 which already comes with the company's install central package in the cpanel. I guess cause all the configs is setup already. I dont know why they just don't just change the 4.7 to 5 in their cpanel. If they did I would not be going through this right now. My friend said before that he had to call the company just for them to connect the drupal 5 to the database for him. They always mentioned though that they do not support when people is uploading their own cms programs to the server which I understand but they connected it for him anyway. I don't think the company should have to be doing this everytime someone wants to upload drupal 5. I called the company and they said they would do the same thing for me. Now I do want to mention though that I did have my old site up at first which was using drupal 4.7 that I installed from the install central in the company's cpanel. When that was up, I created a testing subfolder on my server to try out drupal 5.2. I first created a database just for that testing. Then I went through the same steps that I mentioned on the database config page. It worked. I was happy. I did not have to config any scripts in the background. So I went to the new testing site and man I do love the clean ups they did in drupal 5.2. My problem now is when I start from scratch since I figured the drupal 5.2 installation was working. I do the same thing to my main website and it won't work but it did work when I uploaded drupal 5.2 to the testing subfolder myself without having to use the install central in the cpanel. They need to just update the drupal 4.7 to 5.2 they already have to make things easier cause I have no problem installing drupal 4.7 but I don't want 4.7.
I appreciate the comment.
