Is there anyone here using godaddy.com as hosting company?

I tried to use gmail as smtp server to sending email and got the following error.

warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: unable to connect to ssl://smtp.google.com:465 (Connection timed out) in /home/content/s/f/c/sfchinatown/html/modules/smtp/smtp.module on line 1878.

Is it possible godaddy doesn't allow to use third party's smtp to send emails?

Please share me your experience on how to send emails.

I just got smtp working on godaddy using smtp module, port 80 no encryption. Other help is on the link above. Good luck!
