Install issue when creating table

When installing the module, I was delivered an error message to the effect of "there can be only one auto column and it must be defined as a key." The install denotes datestamp as the primary key and mid as an auto increment.

Is this specification correct? Our site is using mySQL 4.1.2 on Drupal 5.
