Update 4.7 module for 5.0: Drupal roles synced to CiviCRM group

I am casting feelers for anyone able and willing to update this module for 5.0:

Short version of what it does (or should do):

• Sync (on login? on daily cron?) based on CiviCRM "smart group" the user's Drupal role (e.g. CiviCRM "smart group" determines the user's membership has expired; on login or cron, this causes the user's Drupal role to shift from 'current member' to 'expired member')

The goal is to allow CiviCRM membership types to determine the access levels and control available to users.

I am working with a small nonprofit but I can probably scare up a little bit of money if someone is up to the task of updating this module (for 4.7) to run on 5.2...and giving me a short explanation of how it works. :) Please in your response indicate how much money you require for the project.
