The first verison of the Geonames search API is now ready to use. It will probably be added to this project, but meanwhile you may download it here: http://geonames.edesign.no/files/geonames_search.tar.gz

All parameters are implemented, caching is implemented (not very efficient, but better than nothing), and it is possible to configure the Commercial Service - which generally provides much quicker responses.

All XML services are now availøable through one API, see geonames.edesign.no for moreinformation, download etc. Search above is obsolete.
