Profile at registration not showing

I have selected "Show this node profile during user registration." under content type nodeprofile admin. However, as you can see from the attached image, it's "trying" to show but nothing is coming through.

I am using contemplate to alter how my nodeprofile looks and am using pathauto/me module to alter the URLs. Is this the reason I can't see anything.

It would solve that problem if I could get nodeprofiles created as soon as a user registers. At the moment, as I wrote on that forum post, a user gets a 404 if they go to "Profile" from my menu before it's been created.
