profix898 commentedThere are more modules using distributed authentication (DA) than just drupal.module. gallery.module uses the mechanism to authenticate users against the G2 user base. This is required for user import to work. You can read http://drupal.org/node/171870#comment-298768 if you are interested in details. What you discovered is a 'sideeffect' of that feature. Unfortunately D5 is quite limited in respect to DA, but it will be no problem in D6. I have however committed a small bugfix to hide the message in D5 (if gallery is the only DA module enabled). It should be noted that the message does NOT mean that the user is authenticated at gallery.menalto.com, it refers to the embedded gallery of you Drupal site only.
