When a submenu drops over an area with a contextual link it will collapse when the cursor hovers the area which contains the underlying contextual link. Changing z-indexes does not solve this problem. -- When logged out the drop down menu works as intended.

After further investigation, it came out that this problem was caused by devel_themer module.
Disabling the module simply resolved this problem.

Maybe this ticket or issue should be brought to the devel_themer module and guys.
