From my research attending Drupal events both technical and busines-oriented across Europe & US there is a distinction between the "core" brand of Drupal, i.e. the name itself, the DrupalCons, etc. and the "contrib" brand of Drupal, which is the regional groups, the camps, etc. and anything else which is not "core".

It is my feeling we should reflect this in the way we work on the branding side, guarding closely our core brand, and guiding those contributors to the brand as to how to faithfully represent it.

I therefore suggest we address this issue early on so that it also divides up roles & responsibilities into a manageable fashion.
