Hello,

I am busy building/organize a website like this (dutch site). This site offers a combined search result of multiple car occasion sites. It recognizes doubles and show the results. The search query is based on information filled in like car brand/model/price etc.)

Now i did build a couple of Drupal sites before but nothing like this... so, this is really good to expand my knowledge :-)
My mind cannot handle this all together and need to know if i am on the right track.

Here is a list i made of what i thought what's needed:

Selections, input form

  • Brand --> Model: taxanomies in hierarchywith hierarchical select to get the car brand and corresponding models to choose from
  • Price/KM/Year etc. just standard selection boxes

Now the core of the site. This is the part i need some advice, if possible :-)

Getting search results and show them
Depending on the site, most offers xml. The Feeds and QueryPath/Xpath module can read rss/xml results but how can i combine all results/manipulate and show them to the user?
I got multiple feeds now but after importing them it saves the content into nodes... Actually i want 1 clean/combined/transformed xml file and show this to the user that is searching.... im stuck! Or is it better to use the Services module??

Now i didn't think about the rest of the functions of gaspedaal to give my brains some rest. If you register and own an account you can do the following:

  • Save and follow occasions
  • Save search preferences
  • Manage search history
  • Select which auction sites to search

Any suggestions on how to get started with this, some suggestions/directions' would be great!

Beside that I just know Drupal is capable to do this!

Kind Regards,
Joël
