Hello, enjoying the Organic Groups module, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to appoint a user to be a manager of a particular group. Here is what the documentation says:

All subscriber management happens on the 'user list' page which is linked from the group Block (while viewing a group page). This includes approving subscription requests (for selective groups), unsubscribing users and promoting users into group admins.

Thanks for enlightening me!

Moshe,
Yes I have this block enabled. I see these options in this block:

    create personal blog entry
    create book page
    create forum topic
    create mail
    create page
    create poll
    create story
    1 subscriber
    age: 12 hours 27 min
    manager: David D

I wish to assign a particular user who already has an account with my Drupal site to be the manager of the new group I have created. Can I do this or does the user have to sign up to be a member of the new group first?

Thanks so much,
-dado

the user has to be a member of the group. then click on the link '1 subscriber' which takes you to a subscriber list where you may perform admin.

Moshe,
I see. I have 3 questions:
(1) Can I assign users to my group or do they have to subscribe themselves?
(2) Can I remove myself from the "group manager" role & assign this to somebody else?
(3) What is the difference between group manager & group administrator?

Thanks so much for your help and this great module!

some more queries, i have posted these as issue,

as a administrator i can give access to certain nodes. then if i want to remove or add a node would it be added safely. If you see the settings of og it would say that the following operations can be done only once (ie., saving the access to nodes)

Had been trying to find out the same information for a while, so let me post the answers I found. With the Group Details block enabled, you can do all of the above things you named:

1. To assign users to your group, click on the # Subscribers link to bring up the list of subscribers. You should have two tabs at that point: List and Add Subscribers. You can add subscribers by typing the usernames separated by commas (you can't pick them from a list, though.)

2. You can remove yourself from group manager and assign someone else to the role by:

- subscribing the other person
- Click on the group title in the Group Details block
- Click the Edit tab
- Change the "Authored by" field to the other person's username

3. There only appears to be the one role of "group manager," though the terms "group manager" and "group administrator" are both used interchangeably by people talking about Organic Groups

Now, what I want to know is how to have the group manager be the only person (other than Admin) who can moderate the content being posted to their group. If I change the properties of the content type "story", say, to "in moderation queue" by default, it only drops into the administrator's moderation queue. If the properties of the content type are set to "published," it gets published without first hitting a moderation queue. From what I can find, there *is* no moderation queue for organic group postings, but I'd love to find out otherwise...

...offers the functionality to set multiple group managers. The latest series, 6.4x, is simply this functionality without extras.
