Issue Summary
I seem not to find, how i could add meta tags and description to homepage itself. I am in a hurry and thanks in advance.

First of all, please switch to 2.x series - they have better support for non-node pages, including front page.
You'll have to enable 'path-based' meta tags, that will add 'Edit meta-tags' link to your front page
