Stock management/counting is useful. It would be useful to have this functionality without forcibly disabling the product from being purchased. For example, it would be useful for adding back order functionality that integrates with the stock counting functionality of commerce_stock.

version 2 of stock is rule based so you can disable update rules to allow purchasing of out of stock items.
