I noticed that when the "require approval" setting (making all buddyships symmetric) is on and an auto-buddy is enabled, the auto-buddy relationship is not symmetric. I was expecting that it should be since all other buddy-ships are symmetric. I don't know if this is a bug or a feature request.

I modified it for my own purposes for the moment, but I thought I'd post just because I don't think I'm the only user who was expecting this behavior.

I am uploading the module that adds buddies in symmetry. Added advantage is that you can select multiple users for the auto buddy list.

However, to take care of the existing users in the database those do not have the selected auto buddies, we need to run update.php. Once this update.php is executed, it adds the default buddies to the existing users as well.

To learn about executing update.php, you can go to Running update.php.

A feedback about the module is appreciated.

Thanks.

Oops..forgot to attach the module.

I've uploaded and activated the new module, and it still is assymetric. I created a new user, and though my admin account is added automatically to their buddy list, the new user is not on mine.

I didn't run update.php because I'm not concerned about adjusting the buddylists for existing users.

Any ideas?

edit: I didn't realize that I needed to add someone to the new auto-add list. I assumed it would work with the existing list.
I've added my admin account to the new module setup and am testing again.....

Edited one more time: it seems to have fixed the problem though you have to turn the original auto-add module off or you get errors when a new user is added.

I absolutely forgot to mention that this module gives you a separate page to add the auto-buddies to take care of the issue.
